How Time Changes Things

9 Years of Do It Right Sport and Fitness: A Look Back (and Forward)

June 1st, 2016. It was the first official day of Do It Right Sport and Fitness. I signed the lease, opened the doors, and started something I didn’t even fully realize I was building. Before that, I’d subleased from a few spots and kind of ran a business—but looking back, I was young, learning on the fly, and figuring it all out. What I did know was fitness, training, and how much I wanted to help people.

I was also working a full-time job and squeezing in coaching at all hours. It’s funny to think I used to say, “We all have the same 24 hours,” like that solved everything. Life has since taught me that’s just not true—especially when you’re balancing work, family, and everything else real life throws at you.

A Place That Grew with Its People

I never set out to open a gym. I just wanted to create a space where people could come, get stronger, feel better, and not feel like they had to chase quick fixes or be perfect to make progress. In addition, I want people to have fun. Life is way too short to be serious all the time. That mission has stayed the same over the years—but how we do things has definitely evolved.

One of the coolest parts of this journey has been watching people change—not just physically, but in confidence, mindset, and daily life. Whether it’s someone lifting heavier, playing with their grandkids again, running their first 5K, or simply making time for themselves in a busy week... that’s what makes me smile or look like I have had way too much coffee- which I probably definitely did but who counts their coffee haha.

We’ve had members who’ve been with us since before the studio even opened. Some of you have stuck with me through multiple spaces, life shifts, and program changes—and I can’t thank you enough. Watching your consistency, resilience, and progress is honestly one of the biggest blessings of this work.

Growing with Real Life in Mind

Being a mom, experiencing loss that shifts your life in ways you can't even imagine, navigating stress, parenting through sleepless nights, and dealing with all the things that life throws our way—I get it now in a deeper way. All those things impact how people show up, which is why our approach to training has changed too.

We’ve added more mobility work, yoga, and flexible programming that meets people where they’re at. Because that’s what this space is about: real people, real life, and progress that lasts.

Thank You

To Karen—thank you for bringing yoga that just makes people feel good. You bring peace, joy, and presence into our space.

To Chris—thank you for always being ready to jump in, help out, and coach with energy and heart. You’re such a valuable part of this team.

To our members—whether you’ve been here for 9 days or 9+ years, thank you. You inspire each other and me every single day. Your consistency, your effort, and your willingness to show up even when it’s hard… that’s the heartbeat of this place.

And to my family—George and the kids—thank you for always supporting me through the highs and lows. You know how much heart and soul I pour into this space. When things go well or not-so-well, when clients see success or struggle—I carry that with me. And I’m so grateful to have you beside me.

Here’s to What’s Next

Nine years in roughly 4 different spots. Twelve years since I started training.

It feels like a long time—and still just the beginning.

Thank you for being part of the journey.

Let’s see where we go next 💪
